Why do I need a mentorship Council?
- Council is a safe space. A place to be open and vulnerable with your peers and an experienced mentor about your work, challenges, and goals. Discuss sensitive issues including salary negotiation strategy, mental health at work, and navigating bureaucracy.
- Benefit from an experienced facilitator: the groups are led by CIOs or Portfolio Managers that have been in your position and can share insights, build a safe space for the group, and provide mental tools for your job and career.
- Meet high quality people, and really get to know them. Over the duration of the Council, you will get the chance to go deep, and form strong connections with other ambitious individuals.
- Diversify your learning. Peer mentorship amplifies learning as you get to hear from both peers and an experienced mentor solve similar challenges.
How does it work?
- What goes on in the Council, stays in the Council - nothing is recorded, transcribed or posted for later discussion**.** This is a place for you to be open, vulnerable and honest.
- Each mentor facilitates Council sessions for 6 to 8 peers at a time.
- Session are bi-weekly and 60 minutes long. Each session will be structured with a main topic voted on before the session and free flow discussion time to ask questions and seek advice.
Why are we doing this?
- It can be hard to be candid with your manager or subordinates about the challenges you are facing in your career.
- There isn’t a universal playbook for how to handle the unique situations we encounter as we grow our career.
- Large groups and networks don’t offer the opportunity to deeply connect with peers.
- There are few safe spaces to be truly open and vulnerable about your challenges and weakness in a group of peers.
How can I join a Council?
- Find the mentor and Council you feel you would most benefit from
- Fill out an application for the Council you are interested in joining.
- Once each application is reviewed, a 15-min call is scheduled to learn more about the applicant’s experience, background, interests, and goals for the group.
- Applicants are placed either placed into the Council they applied for or are referred to a Council that may be a better fit.
